2024 RAM 2500

The 2024 RAM 2500 is, above all, a powerful workhorse in the time-honored tradition of full-size Heavy Duty pickups. In fact, the diesel model of the RAM, when equipped with the appropriate towing package, can haul up to 20,000 pounds. Meanwhile, the 3500 model can tow more than 37,000 pounds (with a 4.10 axle ratio).

The RAM 2500 continues to offer numerous versions, including the RAM Rebel, which will be on the market shortly. With black accents (bumpers, fender extensions, rocker panels and grille) and headlights surrounded by bands of LED lights, the Rebel draws inspiration from the look of the Power Wagon, but without all the off-road capabilities of the latter (which features higher ground clearance, self-locking differentials, driving programs, etc.).

The large number of available versions makes the RAM 2500 widely appealing and popular. The difference in price between the lowest and highest trim levels is nearly double. Consequently, there’s a model to suit virtually any need and any budget. For example, the starting price of the basic Tradesman version is approximately $61,600, while the MSRP of the luxurious Limited version is approximately $103,500.

Under the hood of the 2024 RAM 2500

The seven versions of the 2024 RAM 2500 are available with a choice of cab sizes (Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab). As for powertrains, the standard internal combustion engine is a 6.4 L V8 paired with an A8 transmission, together producing 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque.

For increased efficiency, there’s an available diesel engine: a 6.7 L inline-six Cummins turbo. This powertrain generates 370 hp and an impressive 850 lbf·ft. The accompanying transmission in this case is an A6. A 189-liter fuel tank is optionally available. A high-output version of the Cummins engine is also available in the RAM 3500, cranking the power up to 400 hp and 1,075 lbf·ft. All versions are available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive (except for the TRX, which comes standard with 4WD). What’s more, the maximum payload of the gasoline-powered RAM 1500 is over 4,000 pounds.
