The Franco-Italian-American Stellantis Group will be going green with the Dodge Challenger in 2024. As with other models, notably the Charger, the concepts are already complete. The production lines are in the process of conversion in light of the possible arrival of new electric muscle cars on the Canadian market in late 2024 and early 2025. Equipped with a new platform, a fully revamped look and possibly even a new name, the Challenger EV will obviously require a dedicated article of its own.
Nevertheless, we’ll still see sparkling, brand-spanking-new conventional (gasoline) Dodge Challengers coming off the assembly line for 2024. We aren’t talking about used cars or even unsold 2023 models, whether the SXT, GT, R/T, SRT, Hellcat, SRT Super Stock or otherwise. This is because Stellantis made the decision to launch one last farewell production before making way for a new generation of electric sports cars. It’s a nostalgic way to mark the end of these legendary vehicles.
Exclusive Dodge Challengers for 2024
Produced in a much smaller batch (especially in Canada), these exclusive Dodge Challengers will be part of a Last Call Series, featuring seven different versions. Among these, the Black Ghost, Swinger Special Edition and BlackTop Special Edition have particularly caught the attention of Challenger fans.
However, we’re saving the most exhilarating of these versions for last: the 2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, the final giant of the series, which has been available for order for several months now.
Demonic power
For the 2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, the most muscular muscle car ever produced, the engineers modified virtually all of the powertrain components, in addition to reducing and reinforcing a number of the peripheral systems. Consequently, with E85 gasoline, the Demon’s 6.3 L V8 can produce 1,025 hp (945 lbf·ft). Even when running on common E10 gas, it can produce up to 900 horsepower. As a result, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds! It’s more than enough to make a lasting impression.
